A greener approach for large-scale buildings

The Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC) – an Australian Government-owned Green Bank that was established to facilitate increased flows of finance into the clean energy sector – is seeking to transform Australia’s approach to medium and large-scale building construction, with a new $300 million program to encourage mass timber construction across the property sector.

The CEFC Timber Buildings Program has the potential to substantially cut construction-related emissions, using engineered wood products at scale to provide a greener alternative to conventional construction materials. Eligible projects may include:

David hails from Lancashire, England and has lived in Australia since 1994. He studied Architecture at Sheffield University and also has an MBA from Macquarie University and a Master of Marketing from UNSW. Prior to joining Planet Ark in 2016 David was Marketing Manager then CEO of a major Sydney-based manufacturer of modular carpets used in all commercial building applications. His proudest achievement was the development of an industry-leading environmental sustainability agenda, including the unique Earthplus product reuse program.
